dirty hair, don't care.
You know why hairstylists always have the best hair? Yeah, it's their job. That is a thing. But the biggest secret weapon they have is one that won't cost you a thang. It'll actually save you some money in the long run. Don't wash your hairz.
I know, it sounds too easy and also hoooooow?? Trust me, you can totally do this. It feels like a big commitment. But with a little determination, courage, and a good dry shampoo, you are golden. It is a long arduous process to get your hair to be happy with not being washed, but worth it. Still not sure how it'll work?
The hi glow way:
- Day 1: Wash and style your hair like you normally do. Do you blow dry? Air dry? Use all the products in the world? Doesn't matter. You just do you and fuuuuggedah bout it.
Day 2: Begin your no wash journey. The second day you probably won't have much oil, but your hair will probably look a little sad. Make it happy and spray a little dry shampoo (my fave / cheapo option) at the roots, and use a flexible hair spray to make things stay.
Day 3-7: Use your dry shampoo/hair spray every day. Keep doing what you did on day 2, but as the days move forward in the week your hair will understand you are the boss lady. Does your hair not hold curl? I bet it will on day 4. Try out some different hairstyles like a small braid at your part and pin it back. When you first start out, maybe only wash your hair every 3 days. Keep adding on days every week until you're washing about once a week.
Day 7: Repeat Day 1. I'm not saying your hair won't be suuuper gross at this point. It totally will. But your hair will be healthier. Those natural oils will help your texture, shine, and increase flexibility of what you can pull off. Your hair will work for you, not the other way around. Side note: Make sure you shampoo with a clarifying or purifying shampoo. My cheapo favorite for my super fine hair is this.
You've got this. Go forth. Don't wash and show it who's boss.
